‘Ride to the Polls’ Mobilizes Motorcyclists to Get Out the Vote

Riders around the country are gathering to vote for racial and socioeconomic equality, environmental protection, and civil and human rights for all.

New York, NY. - Motorcycling groups across the United States have partnered to launch ‘Ride to the Polls 2020,’ an initiative encouraging motorcyclists to ride out and vote. Organizations including Engines for Change (E4C), actionjonze, inc. (a|j), Black Girls Ride (BGR), MotoXmission (MxM), and others are educating riders on today’s pressing issues, and mobilizing motorcyclists to vote for administration change.

“Motorcyclists from all backgrounds believe that we need major changes in our government,” said Kirsten Midura, Founder of Engines for Change. “Now is the time to rally our community and take action against racial and gender inequality, human rights violations, economic injustice, climate change, violence against the LGBTQ community, and other systemic problems.”

According to Midura, the motorcyclists of ‘Ride to the Polls’ are proactive, community-minded people, making them a perfect demographic to inspire others to take a stand. To date, groups in more than 13 U.S. cities are organizing rides leading up to Election Day 2020, including New York City, Los Angeles, D.C., Austin, Atlanta, Raleigh-Durham, Chicago, and Portland, OR, among others.

“Human rights, like motorcycles, are for everybody,” said Lance Jones, co-founder of actionjonze, inc. and lead organizer for Ride to the Polls - Georgia. “Ride to the Polls endeavors to break the cycle of equality becoming the next generation’s challenge.”

Riders are encouraged to vote prior to Election Day using mail-in ballots to make sure their vote is submitted well before the deadline. As the events continue to take shape, more information is being made available on Instagram via @ridetothepolls, and at https://www.enginesforchange.org/ride-to-the-polls-2020.
